Join the orchestra
Do you want to join one of the finest amateur orchestras in the country?
Joining Sinfonia of Birmingham offers an opportunity for exceptional musicians to collaborate at a high level within an amateur setting. As an invitation-only orchestra, it brings together players who demonstrate not only outstanding technical ability but also a deep commitment to musical excellence. Because the orchestra does not rehearse weekly, players are encouraged to make a small contribution to cover costs, rather than paying subs.
The ensemble has earned a reputation for performing at the very highest standards, creating an environment that is deeply rewarding for those who are passionate about orchestral music-making.
Under the direction of conductor Michael Seal, Sinfonia of Birmingham delivers performances of remarkable precision, energy, and artistic depth. The orchestra presents four to five concerts each year, exploring a wide-ranging repertoire that spans core symphonic works alongside more adventurous and diverse programming. Rehearsals for each project typically run over a focused period of two to three weeks in the lead-up to a concert, usually taking place on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7pm to 10pm at venues in South Birmingham.
Applications are sought from musicians who are performing at a high level and who are committed to contributing to the success of the orchestra. For those who meet this standard, Sinfonia of Birmingham offers a uniquely fulfilling orchestral experience among like-minded musicians striving for artistic excellence.
